OK licensing execs get 25%+ boosts in salary

Some Oklahoma licensing board executives saw sizable bumps in their salaries following a pay study authorized by the state legislature in 2013.

Under House Bill 1717, the the Office of Management & Enterprise Services (OMES) was ordered to to determine “an appropriate salary range for all state agency directors through an examination of each position and comparison to other similar positions in the private sector.”

The report resulting from the Bill provided recommended salary ranges, while noting that the agency boards and commissions were not required to make pay raises.

But by November 2013, many boards had already approved significant pay hikes for agency executives. Many of these executives saw an increase to their salary of 25% or more. OSBI director Stan Florence, for instance, saw his salary rise from $80,000 per year to $127,000; Kim Glazier, Oklahoma Board of Nursing, from $91,000 to $125,000; and Kathy Hart, Licensure for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors, from $75,700 to $95,000.
